functionalized glass bubbles

Sep 1, 2024

HOFFMANN MINERAL has been working in cooperation with 3MTM for years to develop products based on glass bubbles. The product is based on the iM16k, modified with a special functional group. Our two main versions are coated with amino- or methacrylic silane.

The main field of application is the production of thermoplastics with demands for low density and low weight of the finished product. The functionalization allows a better integration of the lightweight filler, leading to an improvement in the strength of the finished product. The products can also be used in elastomers.

Thanks to the exclusive cooperation with 3MTM, it is also possible to use other grades (size and stability) of 3MTM Glass Bubbles. Different functional groups such as vinyl, epoxy, alkyl, etc. can be applied to the base material for surface modification.
